About Prof. Tedi Papavrami

Tedi Papavrami is one of the leading violinists of his generation. Prizewinner of several international competitions, he has pursued an international career as soloist and chamber musician since the 1990s, collaborating with conductors such as Kurt Sanderling, Antonio Pappano, Alain Altinoglu, Armin Jordan, Emmanuel Krivine, Manfred Honeck and François-Xavier Roth, and performing alongside artists including Martha Argerich, Nelson Goerner, Philippe Bianconi, Gary Hoffman, Marc Coppey and Viktoria Mullova. In parallel with his musical career, he is widely known in the French-speaking world as the principal translator of the works of the Albanian writer Ismail Kadare for Fayard Editions.

In 2013 he published the autobiographical book Fugue pour violon seul (Robert Laffont). Since 2008, he has been Professor of Violin at the Haute École de Musique de Genève and, since 2025, Artistic Director of the Variations Musicales de Tannay festival. He performs on a violin specially made for him by the Swiss violin maker David Leonard Wiedmer.
